Where to stay in Cabo, Mexico
San Jose del Cabo
San Jose del Cabo sits in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, just 20 minutes away from safe swimming beaches too. The 19th century facade of Misión San José del Cabo gives this town an old-worldly feel, especially when you’re taking part in the weekly evening art walks. You’re able to while away a weekend here meandering between galleries, cafes and the farmers market.
Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas is better known for its spring breakers, resorts and beaches. Playa del Medano is the ‘main’ strip, close to the safest swimming beaches and iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas. Downtown is another popular destination, with plenty of options for nightlife. This is also where you’ll find the main coworking space in Cabo San Lucas.
Todos Santos
Todos Santos is located further north, away from the south of the peninsula. It’s better known for chic and cheap surf hostels and hotels, previously described by Vogue as an ‘Instagrammer’s nirvana’.

There is one coworking space in San Jose del Cabo, close to Palmilla Beach. Koral Desk has desk spaces, air conditioning, and free events for Members. Coffee Lab, in centro, is an open air cowork cafe.
In Cabo San Lucas, there is one coworking space Downtown. LCI Coworking Space also offers flexible day passes and air conditioning.

Working from your Airbnb in Cabo? This is the spot to pick up a bag of Mexican coffee for your Aeropress at home. You can also use the Wifi inside. - Casasola Cafe & Wireless
As the name suggests, you’ll find coffee and Wifi in this spot - as well as a lengthy brunch menu, and a variety of frappes.
Day trips from Cabo
- Sierra de la Laguna Mountains
Escape the crowds for views of the Pacific, cold water lakes and plenty of hiking trails in these mountains. This is also a hotspot for bouldering, scrambling and rock climbing. - Todos Santos
Spend 1 or 2 nights in one of Mexico’s ‘pueblo magicos’ with a weekend in Todos Santos. Todos Santos has been compared to Tulum (prior to the glow up) for the bohemian culture and slower pace of life. - Whale Watching
Thousands of whales migrate to Baja each year between January and April, which makes it a popular area for whale watching. These boat trips are usually combined with tours around the Arch of Cabo San Lucas, and Lover’s Beach.
Best surf breaks in Cabo
Best surf breaks near San José del Cabo
- Costa Azul, Zippers and La Roca
This is the closest break to San José del Cabo, best reached by car. It's pretty popular with locals and it's a fast breaking right - this isn't one to try if you're a beginner. - Shipwreck
Drive an hour north of San José to reach this right hand break. You'll see the biggest swells coming in from April to October, and the wind picks up in the middle of the day - making this a better break to try early morning or early evening.
Best surf breaks around Los Cabos
- Cerritos
This is a long shore break, closer to Todos Santos. Everyone can surf here, from beginners to pros. - Monuments
Monuments is a left hand break, just outside of Cabo San Lucas. This can be fun, but you'll need experience to get around the rocks and waves at this point.

Shopping and groceries Cabo
Grocery Stores
There are plenty of grocery stores in San José and Cabo San Lucas, including Walmart and plenty of MiniSupers. It's much more affordable to shop in the centre, away from the beach. There is also a grocery delivery service called 'Prickly Pear'.
Health food stores
Look for the term 'Tienda Naturista'. This store sells health food products in San José del Cabo, and Cabo San Lucas. There is also a California Ranch Market in Cabo San Lucas.
