Tell us a bit about yourself:

While originally from Tennessee, I have lived in 6 different cities, including Thailand and most recently San Diego, CA, before deciding to try out the digital nomad life on a full-time basis. My legal career started off on the traditional track at very large law firms in San Francisco and San Diego before I pivoted to two in-house roles. I recently teamed up with a friend and former big law colleague to start our own business law focused law firm, Hammond Business Law, P.C.

What are you working on currently?

After more than a year of working remotely during COVID in a home office, I packed up my laptop and decided to try remote working on the road. My legal practice focuses on helping entrepreneurs structure their business properly, comply with US laws, and raise capital through equity or debt financings or mergers and acquisitions. Since my practice does not involve going to court, a laptop, cell phone and good WiFi is all I need to serve my clients.

What's next for you?

I am always looking to connect with entrepreneurs with exciting business ideas. If I gain a new client that is excellent, but I am happy as long as I am learning about a new innovation or idea.

Tell us about your experience with Outsite so far.

So far I have been tremendously impressed with Outsite. In Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, I shared an enormous and beautiful house with fascinating people, a few of whom I ended up traveling with later in other countries. Likewise, in Nicaragua I made amazing friends and business connections that I am still in close touch with. Both properties exceeded my expectations in terms of space, amenities and the helpfulness of the community managers.

Do you have any tips or recommendations that have helped you navigate the nomadic lifestyle?

Despite attempting to pack light, I still realized I packed more than I needed. My advice is to always travel as light as possible and avoid the checked bag fees. You end up needing less than you think when you are packing. I've also found that other nomads are eager to connect so try to strike up a conversation and make a new friend.

What's got you excited these days?

While I am very late to the game, it has been exciting to learn about crypto from the other nomads I've met on the road. There is great surf in Costa Rica and Nicaragua so it's been great to get back into surfing while staying at Outsite properties.
